PROFILE
I am Hanming Duan, borned in 1954, male, Chinese. 1978, I graduated from the Dept. of Water Conservancy in Northwest Agricultural University with the major of hydraulic architecture. After graduation, i has been engaging in urban design and urban planning management. from 1993 to 1996, I served as the director of the Urban Planning and Design Office in HanZhong City, Shanxi province; in the May of 1995, I was promoted to senior city planner ; 1996, i transferred into Northwest University ;1997, I turned into associate professor, master student supervisor and registered city planner; 2003, i was promoted to professor and doctoral supervisor .
Professional Experiences
Since engaged in urban planning, i has successively taken charge of more than 60 projects of urban planning and design, of which the Hanzhong Earthquake Disaster Prevention Planning won the second award for Science and Technology Progress of Hanzhong, 1991. As one of the main designers, i participated in the design of Overall Planning Report Scheme of Yangling Agricultural Demonstration Area in 1997. After the establishment of Yangling agricultural demonstration area, with the cooperation of China City Designing Institute, i won the first prize in the nationwide bidding contest of the Overall Urban Planning of Yangling Agricultural Demonstration Area (planning and design collection of China's Urban Planning and Design Institute, page 106). i got the excellent design prize of the scheme bidding competition of the Scene Virescence Design in South Campus of Northwestern Uuniversity in 2004. In 2006, the paper CHINA'S TRADITIONAL PHILOSOPHY AND CITY DEVELOPMENT: A MUTUAL VERIFICATION won award in essay writing activities in the Second QIUSHI Academic Forum of Urban Planning Society of China. In 2007, the paper Urban Super-Circulation System under Circular Economy View won the third prize of Humanities and Social Science Excellent Achievements of Shanxi College. In 2008, the paper URBAN PLANNING THEORY BASED ON POSITIVE SPIRIT won award in essay writing activities in the third QIUSHI Academic Forum of Urban Planning Society of China.

i has guided 46 graduate students in the major of Human Geography and Urban Planning and Design, including 3 doctors and 43 masters, of which one student received doctor's degree and 29 students received master's degree, respectively. All the dissertations have been evaluated as excellent theses and selected to the National Excellent Master and Doctorl Dissertation of Tsinghua Tongfang Database.
As the chief editor, i have compiled three sets of general higher education "Eleventh Five-Year" national planning teaching materials:
An Introduction to Urban Design, Science Press, 430 000 words, published in January 2006, independently completed and sixth printed already;
The Detailed Planning for a City, Science Press, 450 000 words, published in September 2006, independently completed and fifth printed already;
The Introduction of City Aesthetic and Landscape Design, Higher Education Press, 700 000 words, published in January 2008, and independently completed.
